Thank Your Doc!
OMA PRESIDENT'S UPDATE; Vol. 18, No. 10; May 1, 2013
May 1 is Doctors' Day in Ontario
Wednesday, May 1, marks the third annual Doctors' Day in Ontario - a province-wide appreciation day to recognize and thank all physicians for their hard work and dedication, and an opportunity to remind the public and government of the important role that physicians play in this province.
In celebration of Doctors' Day, the OMA has launched a month-long digital/social campaign that invites patients to share a positive story they've had by sending a thank you card directly to their doctor. Patients that take the time to thank their doctor will have a chance to win an iPhone5 and FitBit OneT Wireless Activity & Sleep Tracker. The OMA has reached out to a number of health care stakeholders and online influencers to support the campaign.
A number of other activities will take place, including the distribution of OMA-branded hand sanitizers to morning subway commuters; delivery of Doctors' Day lunch bags with healthy snacks to every MPP at Queen's Park with a letter that encourages them to write a thank you card to physicians in their constituency; OMA ads celebrating Doctors' Day in the Toronto Star; and recognition at the Toronto Blue Jays game tonight.
The OMA's Thanks Doc! campaign encourages communities to thank and recognize physicians for the work that you do. Ontario's doctors treat more than 400,000 patients each and every day. It's your commitment, passion and dedication to keeping patients healthy that makes Ontario's doctors the best. I hope you will join me in celebrating Ontario's Doctors' Day!
