Juvederm is soft injectable filler made from hyaluronic acid (a component of connective tissue whose function is to cushion and lubricate. Hyaluronic acid creates volume in the face, giving it a healthy, youthful appearance) a naturally occurring substance found in your body. Juvederm adds volume to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, sagging skin and thinning lips. Juvederm is best used in the mid to deep dermis for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid injections have also been shown to stimulate collagen production. The results are instant, look natural, and treatments take less than an hour.
How Juvederm Filler Works
Juvederm filler is injected into the skin with an ultra-fine needle. It combines with water in your skin to instantly restore lost volume, smooth out lines and wrinkles, and enhance lips. Juvederm is the first approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler with demonstrated safety and effectiveness in persons of colour. In addition, Juvederm includes Lidocaine freezing within the substance to instantly numb the area on contact. This makes the treatment much more comfortable to the patient and nearly pain free!

Juvederm Efficacy and Safety:
People with severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or presence of multiple severe allergies should not use Juvederm. Patients who are using blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as with any injection, may experience increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site. There may be some redness and tenderness at the injections site, and some post-injection bruising, or mild swelling, which usually resolves itself within a few days. If laser treatment, chemical peeling, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered after treatment with Juvederm injectable gel, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site. Juvederm is FDA approved.
